Wire Rope Ring Clutch

Wire Rope Ring Clutch consists of a cable, swage, clutch body, and curved bolt handle.  Used with Fleet Lift Anchor System.  Designed to be used specifically for flat steel lifting.  Cable Ring Clutch is the same in function as the standard style ring clutch, for the exception of offering more flexibility.  And it is fabricated with a wire cable bail for more versatility.  It is often an effective solution for difficult lifting and rotation challenges.

Compared with the standard ring clutch, Cable is more flexible than bail allowing some latitude in the direction of the lift.  Handle allows for more safe locking of clutch into lifting position

1 Available on special order or limited quantity on hand.  Special orders take 4 to 5 weeks.

2 Not to be used with High Capacity System Anchors.

3 Clutch capacities are rated at a 5:1 safety factor.

 

How to inspect & maintain the ring clutch and wire rope ring clutch?

  1. Prior to an inspection, the Ring Clutch should be cleaned to ensure any cracks or damage can be seen by the inspector.
  2. Visually inspect the cable for any kinks and buckling.  Inspect for broken cable/wire/strand braid, cable compression deformation, cable corrosion scarring, and an excessive number of damaged or frayed wires.  If the Ring Clutch fails any of these criteria it must be removed from service.
  3. Inspect cable coupling for damage or severe wear.  Check for signs of cable slippage in cable coupling.  If an indication of applied heat is present, the unit must be removed from service.
  4. Visually inspect the clutch body for any splitting, cracking, deformation, applied heat, or damage.  If the clutch body fails any of these criteria it must be removed from service.
